It began as an introductory assignment for a class where I had to create a single level, but I saw how much fun my friends were having when they played it, so I decided to continue its development throughout the semester in my spare time.
The rules of the game are relatively simple. All you need to do it go into a world, and retrieve a unique item to unlock a barrier blocking the Final Path. Enemies and moving objects will kill you.
When the player finally obtains the required items, the Final Path unlocks and a new ability is gained. The player must use this new ability to battle the boss at the end of the game.

As you can see, a lot of hard work went into creating the main menu.

This is the Main Hub area where the player chooses which level they wish to enter.

World 1.

If the player touches a wall, it starts them at the beginning of the world. They just need to navigate around walls and moving obstacles to obtain the "Cookie of Power".

World 2

The player needs to stay within the moving square until it frees them. Afterwards they may claim the "Present of Power". The background moves to distract the player.

World 3A

Simple, just avoid the bug and make your way to the door.

World 3B

The second half of the world is just a slightly harder version of the first half.

World 3 has a lot of bugs, specifically beetles.

World 4

It's Dance Dance Revolution themed!  The player must endure a short sequence of falling arrows to the beat of a song. If they survive, they may claim the "Donut of Power".

The Final Path

The final path is full of moving hazards. The player just needs demonstrate their navigation mastery in preparation for the final challenge. There are additional rooms, but I'm going to leave those a secret for now.

Boss Fight

The boss has 3 different attacks that he cycles through.  In his first attack, he launches projectile skulls at the player.  His second attack is a cluster of fireballs exploding outward from his hand. The final attack consists of massive fireballs moving across the screen.

(I tried lining the attacks up with the music to signal phase changes to the player)

Using their newly learned ability, players must endure the fight and defeat the boss to achieve the ultimate ending.

The event that happens after the boss fight is a secret, and you must play for yourself to see it.
